Pat's Knob offers voice and digital communication services to the Lake, Sanders, Mineral, Flathead and Missoula counties.

Digital communication comes in the form of a digital repeater utilizing the APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) system. APRS was created as a means to pass local traffic and coordinate information. This is accomplished by interfacing a GPS to the station or programming the station's fixed coordinates into the TNC. KC7MRQ-10 is station call sign and ties the Idaho panhandle and parts of Eastern Washington to western Montana. It is also a critical fill-in station for I-90 corridor between Lookout Pass and Missoula.

Pat's Knob APRS station is a fixed digital repeater that is utilizing the following components:

Kantronics KPC-3+ (Ver 9.1 )

Yaesu FT-2500m

30 amp Power Supply

Ladder Line J-Pole inside a Converted Hustler.

KC7MRQ-10 will be upgraded this year to a more robust system that can accommodate the service weather the mountain offers. The antenna has been replaced with a Hustler Spirit series antenna that has 3dB gain. This particular antenna can withstand the wind and icing that occurs every winter.

The new radio will be a Motorola Mitrek. This particular radio will have no external control knobs and will be housed in one of the 19" racks
